A couple of new favorite photos from my last visit to Houston a couple weeks ago.

Rowan is 6 months old and chugging along. She weighs about 15 lbs and is 25 inches long. She is one chubby baby. We started doing physical therapy a few weeks ago and she’s doing ok. Rowan is really not wanting to move but we’re working on it. And whoever said that babies don’t manipulate is a big fat liar! I have to hide during Rowan’s PT session. If she can’t see me, she’s fine. Once she spots me, it’s over. She has her “why aren’t you putting a stop to this?”” cry. It’s kind of funny.

Anyway, to more important news…the feeding is going well. Rowan is doing really well with the solids. She will eat applesauce, pureed carrots, graham cracker, and will chew on orange slices. No, this isn’t the typical food “schedule” but hey…whatever. Rowan will take about an ounce to an ounce and a half of formula at one time…IF she’s in the mood. She also will drink water and Pedialyte. Mostly she just likes to wave her sippy cup around, but it’s a start

Yes, I know I’ve been slacking on updating this blog. Rowan has been doing great!  She has been going to see the cardiologist every month since her discharge because of a renarrowing of her aorta. Well, nothing had changed as of the last visit so we go back in TWO months! Progress! The doc was very happy with how she’s growing and pretty much just cooed over her.

Rowan weighs 13lbs 5 oz, is 23.5 inches long and still has a smallish head that is finally on the growth charts. She’s not rolling yet. She has gotten most of the way over from back to stomach but just fell asleep. I’d be surprised if Rowan rolled over anytime soon. She is just not that interested in it.

The most recent good news is that Rowan FINALLY got clearance to start oral feeds. She has no idea what to do with a bottle and doesn’t really like liquid in her mouth, but it’s something!

Rowan had her first Christmas and I think she enjoyed it. We spent Christmas Eve at Ryan’s Aunt Julie and Uncle Scott’s house then had Christmas Day at Nana and Grandy’s (Ryan’s mom and dad..still getting used to the new names). No picture with Santa this year, but next year for sure!

My mom and my brother Shawn came to visit the day after Thanksgiving. Mom just wanted to play with the baby. Rowan seemed to like her. Mom would talk to Rowan and Rowan would talk back. It was pretty funny. Shawn got to meet the baby for the first time. He summed her up pretty well, “ayy, ka cute.”
